Volunteer Program

Almost Home’s volunteers are a vital part of our organization and help us in a variety of ways. Volunteers help with everything from walking dogs to cleaning to planning events. Our volunteers allow us to get more accomplished and give our pets a better quality of life while they are our guests. What seems like only a few hours each week to you will make a giant difference in the life of a homeless pet. Will you help us help them?

Adult Volunteer Application

  1. Once you submit your application, the Volunteer Coordinator will review your application and, if accepted, will extend an invitation to attend an orientation and training session based on your position interests! The review process will take about 7-10 business days to complete. Orientation will last approximately 2 hours and will provide you with an overview of AHHS operations, expectations and opportunities. Volunteers will also sign a liability release waiver form at the beginning of orientation. A $15 fee to cover administrative fees and an AHHS volunteer t-shirt is due at orientation.

Orientations are scheduled as follows:

Dog Area Positions

Sundays at 10:00am

Cat Area Positions

Sundays at 2:00pm

Facilities/Upkeep and Greeters

Contact the Volunteer Coordinator to Schedule

Disclaimer: Orientation schedules may be changed at the discretion of the Volunteer Coordinator and the Canine Coordinator. Training sessions scheduled outside of the posted schedule may be an option on an as-needed basis; however this cannot be guaranteed and may make you ineligible for the volunteer program. If we think a volunteer position doesn't seem like the right fit, we may ask for you to consider other position options.

3. Once oriented, you will create your volunteer schedule, which the Volunteer Coordinator will review and confirm. You will then be ready to attend your first shift! You will shadow a staff member or experienced volunteer until you’re comfortable. You will then be able to start coming to your regularly scheduled shifts! Thank you so much for all of your help! It’s because of thoughtful people like you that our animals can live happier, healthier lives and one day find their FURever homes!
