Overwhelmed

We usually ask for help with one specific pet in need. We are always humbled by the outpouring of support to help us heal an injured pet in need and get them on the road to a forever home. Today, we need your help because we are overwhelmed.

477. That is how many pets are in our care today. That is 111 more pets than were in our care on this day last year and 188 more than in 2016! We are struggling. We have the same number of staff to care for the pets as we did in 2016 and every day is a battle just to get through our basic tasks. Even though the leaves are turning and its officially fall, we're still receiving bottle baby kittens and have 158 pets out in foster homes right now and more waiting right now to find a foster placement.

We've been able to save more than 90% of the pets that have needed us since 2015 and we haven't euthanized a pet for "space" in many more years, but our situation is becoming more difficult by the day as our intakes outpace our outcomes. When we wanted to save more lives we reached out to the community for help in making that happen and now we need your help again.

We can't keep going at our current rate without more help from the community. We need you and the pets of our community need you. What can you do?

Adopt

We have hundreds of cats and many dogs, all waiting for a family to decide they are "the one." We even have 47 "barn cats" waiting for someone to spring them from the shelter and return them to the life they love, outdoors in a barn or outbuilding. To see pictures of just some of our adoptable pets visit our website’s adopt a pet section.

Foster

Our foster parents are a huge part of our success and we need even more. From bottle baby kittens that need care every few hours to adult pets that just need a break from the shelter, we can find you the foster pet that is the best fit for you. Volunteer

When we have so many more pets than normal in our building, volunteers help us make it through the day. Morning kennel help is always needed and we would love to have you join our team. We also need help with socializing the animals, supervising Dogs Playing for Life playgroups and creating enrichments for the animals. To learn more about volunteering visit the volunteer section of our website.

Donate

More pets in our care and more pets served this year, means that our expenses continue to climb. We want to give every pet in our care the very best, but we still operate at a budget deficit each year. Every donation you make, helps us, help them. Will you help them today? Click here to donate.
