Donation Options
AHHS has a variety of donation options. (Listed below and on the menu on the left-hand side of the page.) We hope you will find one that is right for you! All donations are used to benefit the animals at AHHS and are tax-deductible. Check with your financial adviser for specifics.
Did you know it costs us over $180 to care for dogs and cats for their first five days at the humane society? On any given day we can have upwards of 200 animals on site, not including those in foster care. Each year AHHS takes in more than 2,000 total animals. AHHS receives funding from the City of Lafayette and the City of West Lafayette for care for the animals only during that first five-day holding period. The contract money only includes their initial vaccines, tests, food, shelter and other basic care. Municipality funds do not cover any care provided after five days and also does not cover any medical care for injured or ill animals. The contract money makes up only about 30% of our annual income each year. Average annual shelter expenses exceed $650,000. This leaves a significant amount of funds that AHHS is required to make up through our events, donations, adoptions, etc. Your generous donations provide the means for us to continue to care for and serve the animals and the community.
