Lost and Found

We hold stray animals for 5 days, so it is important that you contact us immediately if you have lost your animal. Visiting the shelter in person is the best approach to identifying your missing pet.  Running an ad in the newspaper and posting LOST signs in your area are recommended, too. Also, please contact Animal Control to alert them about your missing pet.

Remember, effective January 1, 2007, we are unable to take in any animals from the Tippecanoe County Jurisdication. All animals from Tippecanoe County must be taken to Crystal Creek Kennel. If you reside in the county and your pet is missing, please contact Crystal Creek immediately at 765-589-8299.

If you have found an animal you can either bring it to us or you may contact us to report that you have found a stray animal. If you choose to hold the animal until the owner is located, we will look for a matching description in our lost notices.

If you have decided to hold the animal instead of bringing it to us, when a match is made with a pet owner searching for a lost animal, we will provide them with only your first name and phone number, it is your responsibility to do your best to ensure that the animal is owned by the person contacting you.

Also, if you have found  an animal and have decided not to surrender it to us, please get it checked for a microchip. You can do this by bringing the animal to the shelter during business hours. You may also try  contacting your vet or one near you to see if they will do the microchip scan for you.
